The article discusses research which examined the strain-based design (SBD) for transmission pipelines that underwent large cyclic longitudinal strain and high internal pressure. Topics discussed include the cost benefits of using higher strength line pipe steels, cyclic tensile strain capacity of microalloyed line pipe steel and SBD models based on classical plasticity theory. |
