Abstrakt: The article informs that a number of studies show that girls in the U.S. lose interest in both science and physical activity when they reach the middle school level. Topics discussed include the loss of interest in areas such as science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM) and physical activity affecting girls as they enter important life phases and affecting their lifestyle choices. Also mentioned are the vulnerability of middle school students and the matter of gender equity.
