Abstrakt: The classic Monteggia fracture is described as a fracture of the proximal third of the ulna with an anterior dislocation of the radial head. Since its original description, advances in medical knowledge and technologies have provided a greater understanding of this disorder. Inappropriate treatment requires extraordinary measures to return the elbow to its normal physiologic state. This article reviews the injury, methods of treatment, and complications associated with the Monteggia fracture. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
