Abstrakt: Recent literature indicates that inactivity rates are high among adolescent girls and physical education (PE) programs are failing to meet their needs. The purpose of this study was to gain understanding of girls' appreciation of PE classes given the implementation of a new curriculum. This case study's qualitative data were collected through class observations and interviews with 37 girls. Girls discussed their PE likes, dislikes, and ideals, and their physical activity (PA) patterns. Although girls' likes were often consistent with the new curriculum, difficulties existed in full implementation. Authors discuss ongoing problems related to gender and girls' contradicting PA beliefs and behaviours. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
