Abstrakt: Eating disorders are a spectrum of psychiatric conditions associated with significant morbidity and mortality. They are characterized by abnormal eating patterns and a preoccupation with body shape and weight. Although these behaviors have serious medical consequences, most are reversible with nutritional rehabilitation. The family physician plays a key role in diagnosing eating disorders and collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team of behavioral health providers and dietitians. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
