Abstrakt: Chemoradiation therapy (CR) for head and neck cancer can lead to long-term adverse effects, including dysphagia, xerostomia, dysguesia, anorexia, weight loss, nausea, and fatigue. Patients with head and neck cancer often require nutrition support via percutaneous endoscopic gastrointestinal tubes during their CR treatment and subsequently face the challenge of transitioning to oral intake after treatment ends. The purpose of this article is to introduce an emerging area of clinical nutrition practice known as mindful eating and to specifically describe how mindful eating is being used as a clinical intervention with survivors of head and neck cancer.
