Emerging research has explored the prevalence of romantic jealousy in relation to online content. This study explored the relationship between perceived romantic jealousy in the context of Facebook and communicative responses to jealousy. A total of 196 individuals completed an online questionnaire that measured the amount of time spent on Facebook, perceived feelings of jealousy in response to Facebook-specific stimuli, and the propensity to engage in various communicative responses to Facebook-related jealousy. The results of multiple correlation analyses reveal a positive relationship between amount of time spent on Facebook and perceived feelings of Facebook jealousy. Findings also indicate a positive relationship between Facebook jealousy and a variety of communicative responses to jealousy, namely increased surveillance and monitoring behaviors.
