The article describes the scope of vegetable production for the domestic African markets and its importance to combat the hidden hunger in the region. Topics discussed include the cause and consequences of hidden hunger, the different strategies used to combat hidden hunger such as dietary diversification, vitamin supplementation, and food fortification, and the production of commercial, peri-urban, and organic vegetables. |
