Abstrakt: | The article examines the nature of the resettlement, acculturation and reception of the Somali refugees in Lewiston, Maine from their arrival in 2000 until 2011. Topics discussed include the nature of their integration in schools, workplaces and the community, the role of political status, economic status and gender on how Lewistonians responded to the Somali immigrants, and the U.S. invasion of Somalia in the early 1990s. |
