| Abstrakt: | An essay on seconda practtica madrigals is presented. It proposes the importance of physiological movements that produce vocal sounds as text-setting devices and presents analyses of tonguings and lip motions behind the vocalic and consonantal tone colors of texts, based on the madrigals of the late madrigalists Scipione Lacorcia, Claudio Monteverdi, and Carlo Gesualdo. The author also examines the vocal techniques used by Gesualdo and their use in church. |
