The article discusses the potential of a Level-0 probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) to increase plant safety and availability when integrated into the design and operation of a nuclear power plant control system. Topics include the capabilities developed by Oak Ridge National Laboratory to incorporate probabilistic assessments into a reactor control system on a real-time basis, and the integration of the Level-0 PRA and validating thermal-hydraulic calculations into simplified control system. |
