| Abstrakt: |
The article reviews available therapeutics for treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME) and provides insight into potential treatments presently in the pharmaceutical pipeline. Topics discussed include effectivity of intravitreal corticosteroids in the treatment of DME due to their ability to block the production of VEGF, an investigation on more selective approaches to augment inflammatory cascade and chronic oxidative stress as a key etiologic factor in developing retinal vascular leakage. |
