The article focuses on the celebration by the St. Joseph's/Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia, of completing 10 years without adverse outcomes in patients receiving patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) after surgery. It discusses the role of Harold Oglesby, Manager of the Center for Pulmonary Health at the facility in eliminating opioid-related adverse events in patients. It reflects on the role of respiratory therapists in educating patients and their families about the risks of PCA delivery. |
