Abstrakt: The author discusses the dominance of a series of deeply depressing global crises that affects the U.S. including the irredentist actions of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine, the Gaza war and the Islamic State (ISIS) beheadings and threats. He considers such occurrences as part of the age of insolubility which may reshape the country's politics and society. He also notes the need to strengthen relations with other countries to try to address a wide range of global problems.
