The article discusses congressional research service (CRS) report on U.S. policy issues on Taiwan, formerly called Republic of China (ROC.) It is stated the U.S. has continued a non-diplomatic relationship with Taiwan after acknowledging existence of People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1979. Mentioned are Taiwan Relations Act (TRA) of 1979, "Six Assurances" of 1982, and its democracy and self-governance. It is noted Taiwan is major producer and innovator of information technology (IT) products. |
