Abstrakt: The article focuses on the importance of high quality early intervention to children who are born into poverty. It mentions the cases of several disadvantaged students including one whose ancestors were slaves in South Carolina and another two who are gang members, the impact of the gap in skill development between advantaged and disadvantaged children on academic achievement and features of a high quality early intervention program, one is qualified and well-compensated staff.
