'More than the Sum of its Parts': Popular Music, Gender, and Myth in Haruki Murakami's Fiction.

Abstrakt: The article discusses contemporary Japanese writer Haruki Murakami's work of fiction and his deep indebtedness to popular music. It lists several novels of Murakami whose names are inspired from popular music albums including "Norwegian Wood" whose title comes from the 1965 Beatles' song, and "Dance Dance Dance," whose title comes 1964 song by the Dells. It also discusses gender-criticisms and use pop music references in the Murakami's novels.
