Abstrakt: The purpose of this study was to ask music therapists to identify the top 10 popular songs from each decade (1900s through the 1960s), based on the comprehensive list of songs from the Cevasco and VanWeelden (2010) study, according to 3 subpopulations of older adult clients (Alzheimer's/Dementia, Geriatric Clients, & Well Elderly). Also of interest was the number of music therapists' who know a song versus those who used a song with older adults. A total of 443 music therapists worked with older adult populations and were emailed an invitation to participate in the survey; 249 individuals completed the survey. Songs from the 1900s and the 1910s were known and used by more music therapists than any other decade. As decades increased, there was a decrease in the number of songs which were used by at least 80% of the music therapists. Further results and clinical implications are discussed.
