The author examines the possible adverse effects to the operation of the U.S. Army if its force is undersized. He cites the claims by retired U.S. Army General Gordon R. Sullivan and Lieutenant General Daniel P. Bolger that the Army should have 550,000 troops in order to achieve its national military strategy. He criticizes the move by the U.S. Congress to blame the military medical system and the Veterans Health Administration to address the health issues of U.S. soldiers. |
