The article deals with the use of the Greek tragedy form in representing the experiences of women survivors of imprisonment and torture during the 1973-1985 dictatorship in Uruguay within the play "Antígona oriental," by the playwright and director Marianella Morena. Topics discussed include the similarity between Sophocle's "Antigone" and Morena's play, the multiple roles of women in the Peruvian Antigone, and the therapeutic role of the theater. |
