The article describes the two-part method used by Dancing Drum creators Steve Campbell and Lindsay Rust for their West African drumming programs. Topics covered include the development of the Rhythm Phonics technique, the creation of rhythmic phrases which are easy to memorize and the introduction of a rhythm to students verbally. Also mentioned is the addition of an accompaniment to make a two-part polyrhythm. |
