The article discusses efforts by the Minnesota Medical Association (MMA) to prevent opioid abuse as of September 2014. After witnessing the effects of prescription abuse in medical facilities, the MMA formed a task force of physicians of different specialties in 2012 for an in-depth study of the issue. It talks about organizing forums across the state, taking part in a group led by the Institute for Clinical Systems Improvement (ICSI), and strengthening the Prescription Monitoring Program. |
