Abstrakt: The article informs that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) published a rule in May 2011 in the U.S. "Federal Register" to remove gray wolves of the Western Great Lakes distinct population segment (DPS) covering Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin from the endangered and threatened species list. Topics discussed include wolf numbers and distribution in the region exceeding the population criteria in the states' recovery plans. Also mentioned is a wolf timeline in the Great Lakes region.
