Abstrakt: The electron temperature can be determined from an interference signal that occurs in electric field data when the probe passes through the shadow of the vehicle. The technique does not perturb the surrounding plasma and is applicable to any sunlit sounding rocket or satellite experiment that measures the ambient electric field using high-impedance probes.
