Abstrakt: The article presents and discusses historical source material on border relations between Mongolia, Russia and China from the late 17th century through the early 20th century, including a letter sent to Chinese Qing Emperor Qianlong, a 1765 letter sent by the Qing Dynasty Court to the Vice-Chair of the Chinese government agency Lifanyuan (or Lifan Yuan) Huturingga and a personal narrative of Transbaikal Region resident known as Tokhogo. Topics, including trade in Kiakhta, Russia, the potential for war between Russia and China and border crossing into China, are discussed.
