Abstrakt: We report the results of a system that employs four small superconducting repulsion coils and their respective niobium force-plates to restore the parallelism of a quartz-rod acoustic etalon, used for the measurement of acoustic transmission across quarter-wave matching layers into liquid [sup 4]He. In the 9-10 GHz frequency range we find up to an eightfold improvement in the number of usable echoes for some quartz-rod samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
