Abstrakt:	The article discusses the idea of compassion hijacking in nurses. The author states that due to stress-laded environment of healthcare, ineffective nursing leadership may lead to download spiral of nurse burnout and turnover. Consequences of ineffective leadership are discussed including inability to confront self-fears, lack of respect for and undervaluing staff, and inability to listen empathically. The benefit of leading with compassion is discussed.
