Abstrakt: Attitudes towards interdisciplinarity have changed dramatically: once so controversial, it is now almost a positive catchword for a dynamic university. But what about interdisciplinary activities? Issues of integration, or interdisciplinarity, tend to be highlighted in new activities, but neglected in traditional educational programmes (for example, in training for professions), although the degree of boundary crossing could be the same. One argument in this article is that it might be useful to talk about boundary crossing (or integration) instead of interdisciplinarity alone, since organizational boundaries seem to be as important as boundaries between disciplines.
