Abstrakt:	The article discusses the controversy between the British colony of Massachusetts and Great Britain's government over the minting of coins in Boston, Massachusetts from 1652 through 1691, with a particular focus on the role that the issue of political sovereignty played in this dispute. The role that Massachusetts' General Court played in the minting of coins in Boston is discussed.
