Abstrakt: The article examines the pastoral paradoxical positionings of nature as pastoral, beautiful and sublime in "The Moomins and the Great Flood" book of Finnish illustrator and author Tove Jansson which is the first series of her "Moomins" series. The author argues Jansson's comfortable or biocentric interactions with the natural world found in children's literature. It mentions that Jansson explicitly explores how natural toils and natural terrors can be hostile and benign written in the book.
