Reports the cloning of a new protein kinase, NIK, which binds to Traf2 and stimulates transcription factor NF-kappaB activity. The similarity of NIK to MAPKK kinases; The participation of NIK in an NF-kappaB-inducing signalling cascade; The similarity to receptors of the tumor-necrosis/nerve-growth factor receptor family and the interleukin-1 type-I receptor. |
