In recent years, cloud computing has emerged as one of the fastest-growing segments of the information technology industry. The ability to leverage economies of scale, geographic distribution, open source software and automated systems to drive down costs, makes cloud computing an attractive option for businesses. But many of the advantages of cloud computing are accompanied by collateral legal, reputational and security risks. In contrast to traditional solutions, where the IT services are under proper physical, logical and personnel controls, cloud computing moves the application software and databases to the large data centers, where the management of the data and services may not be fully trustworthy. Serbian cyber infrastructure is a part of global network, and it is very vulnerable to cyber-attacks. Cyber crime shows a growing trend in the Republic of Serbia and cloud computing represents a new opportunity for cyber criminals to expand their illegal activities in area that yet is not fully covered by law enforcement agencies. It presents a great opportunity for cyber criminals to relocate criminal resources and therefore hide evidence in order to evade detection. The Authors are trying to present a preview of possible risks that cloud computing can bring to the area of cyber crime in the Republic of Serbia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
