Abstrakt: The article discusses the Italian Christian Democratic political party (DC) after the 1962-1965 Second Vatican Council, and the rise of the "Rete" Italian Democratic party in the early 1990s. Topics discussed include the Palermo Spring political movement led by Catholic Democratic mayor Leoluca Orlando, the affiliation of Catholic politicians with parties other than the DC, and the "Rete" party led by Orlando with politicians including Nando Dalla Chiesa, Diego Novelli, and Alfredo Galasso.
