Abstrakt:	The article presents literary criticism of the book "Fascism" by Zheliu Zhelev. Particular focus is given to its impact on Bulgarian public life during the 1980s. According to the author, the book weakened the legitimacy of the socialist Bulgarian state. Details on the relationship between fascism and totalitarianism as depicted in the book are presented. The book's circulation and its relationship to Marxist-Leninist philosophy are also discussed.
