Abstrakt: The article reports on research which was conducted to compare Achilles tendon mechanics in active young adult men and women at rest and after light and strenuous activity in the form of repeated jumping with an added load. Researchers evaluated 17 men and 14 women. They found that their data demonstrated differences in tendon mechanics between men and women and the possibility of a potential protective mechanism which could explain a lower incidence of Achilles tendinopathy in women.
