The discovery that the phenotypic severity of telomerase RNA (ter1) mutations is directly proportional to the loss of RAP1 binding to mutated telomeric repeats; The role of telomeres as the specialized DNA-protein structures at the ends of eukaryotic chromosomes; A comparison with Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
