Abstrakt: This article reports on a study which evaluated the association between metalloproteinases 2 and 9 and mortality in patients with septic shock. Researchers evaluated patients who had a diagnosis of septic shock on admission or during their intensive care unit (ICU) stay. They learned that serum metalloproteinases 2 and 9 activities are not reliable independent predictors of mortality in patients with septic shock.
