March as a proper month of the year, also known in Romanian as: MarŃ, MarŃiu, Mart or MărŃisor reminds us of Dragobete, a traditional holiday also named The beginning of spring and of the New Year which traditionally started on March, the First. MărŃisor, as a special month dedicated to women's authority includes holydays which highlight the importance of feminine roles (Dochia, Old Dochia's Days, Măcinicii, The Annunciation). The trinquet worn in honour of March first, [„MărŃisor”], made up by women from the traditional community had specific functions, such as: initiation, magic and ritual and highly utilitarian.
