Abstrakt: The article reports that South Africa has replaced Poland as the number supplier of coal in Europe. Topics covered include the long-term reduction in the production capacity of Poland associated with labor issues, increase in West Germany and France's import of coal from South Africa and the growth in South Africa's export of gold to 26 million tons in 1980 valued about 688 million dollars.
