Invasive Pasteurella multocida infection, although uncommon, has been recognized to occur more frequently among patients with hepatic cirrhosis. This study reports a fatal case of bacteremic P. multocida empyema without pneumonia associated with refractory septic shock in a patient with both cirrhosis and asplenia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
