The article discusses the trade deficit experienced in the U.S., which is being considered as a great concern among some U.S. Congress members due to its magnitude as of 2013 and the growing number of U.S. dollar-denominated assets owned by foreigners. Topics discussed include the role of liberalized capital flows and floating exchange rates in expanding autonomous capital flows between countries and the efforts of the U.S. government to address the problem. |
