The article discusses research investigating the quality of marine sediment between Estrecho de Magallanes and Cabo de Hornos in Patagonia, Chile. The authors note the importance of sediment quality for aquacultural productivity and discuss the results of their analyses of sediment quality based on the survival, fertilization, and growth of several species, including the benthic arthropod Tisbe longicornis, the echinoderm Arbacia spatuligera, and the microalgae Dunaliella tertiolecta. |
