Abstrakt:	The article provides an overview of the historical description of various socio-political processes, cultural and economic conditions that develop in the back of the Senegal River. It examines possible conflicts of economic and political interests and their negative and positive consequences for regional integration. It explores the rivers as favourable elements to the promotion of regional integration and cooperation in West Africa.
