An interview with Bharatanatyam artist A. Janardhanan is presented. Particular focus is given to his role in the "Sabari Moksham" dance-drama in the "Ramayana" series, composed and directed by Rukmini Devi Arundale. He explains the challenges of playing the character Rama, which he played for nearly 35 years. Janardhanan discusses the thought behind the patrapavesam of Soorpanakha as well as the changes in Kalakshetra over the years. |
