The article discusses a study which investigated the role of phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) activity on pulmonary vasoconstrictor influence of endothelin (ET) in exercising swine. Topics discussed include the lack of effect of ET receptor blockade following PDE5 inhibition, the role of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) signaling, and pulmonary ET and big ET responsiveness in the absence and presence of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP). |
