The article discusses historical misconceptions surrounding the rule of former German Third Reich leader Adolf Hitler, particularly the concept of the nonexistent Nazi think tank known as the "Institut für Geopolitik" allegedly directed by German general Karl Haushofer. The article examines the influence of Haushofer and the Institut in scholarship concerning Nazi ideology. The article also examines Haushofer's views concerning geographical determinism, scholarly references to the Institut, and the concept of Lebensraum. |
