Abstrakt: The article aims to isolate and identify Streptomyces colonies from faded mural paintings in ancient Egyptian tombs and to determine the effect of salts found in these paintings on the growth and metabolic activity of Streptomyces strains. Topics discussed include the discovery of Streptomyces as the main bacterial species on deteriorated paintings in the tombs of Tanis and Tell Basta as well as glutamic acid and other amino acid alternatives which prevent hypersalinity.
