The article provides suggestions on making a dog learn to tolerate all types of handling. It suggests making handling exercises a priority with the puppy before 12 weeks of age, pairing handling and touch with pleasant experiences. When handling exercises for older pups, it recommends conditioning the adult dog to all types and handling. It cites several behaviors that can significantly reduce a dog's stress such as sitting, downing and standing, to lie down on the side and the exercise still.
