The article offers information on the history of the Spanish Society for Bone and Mineral Metabolism Research (SEIOMM) which was founded in 1987 in Spain. Several names of the board of directors of the society are given. The appearance of methods for the diagnosis of osteoporosis and of efficacious drugs for its treatment led to an increase in interest in the pathology on the part of medical specialists directly or indirectly associated with the locomotor apparatus. |
