Abstrakt: In the mid-1950s, the Saskatchewan Archives Board distributed a survey to those individuals who had pioneered in the province between 1876 and 1914. The purpose of this survey was to identify the reasons why individuals felt compelled to migrate or immigrate to Canada, how their friends and family members felt about their decision to move, the various means of transportation they used to travel to Saskatchewan, and the family members, friends, or acquaintances who accompanied them on their journey. Respondents were also asked to comment on any incidents that occurred during their travels and where they first settled when they arrived in the province. The intent of this article is to provide a descriptive analysis of the survey results in order to obtain a greater understanding of those individuals who decided to relocate and pursue the life of a pioneer in the province of Saskatchewan.
